My husband bought me this necklace at last year's Congo Square Rhythms festival. I really loved the design, especially as we knew we had to move away from New Orleans later that year, and thought it would be a great memento. However, after less than a year of gentle wearing (always making sure to take it off before showering, etc.), the pendant began turning green. I've since given up on wearing it, sadly. I came across it in a drawer today and thought I'd look up the listing to figure out what the base metal is, since that's probably what's causing the discoloration, and maybe figure out a way to fix it. However, the only info listed here is that the pendant is coated in a "super thick" layer of gold and doesn't mention what's underneath. What a bummer, especially at such a price.
Leaving this review to let you know that, if you're debating buying this necklace, you should go for the silver one or at least be aware that this piece, against the claims in the description, unfortunately does not have a lot of longevity.
Well made, and the design on the back was a nice surprise.
