Learn how to transform a boring pair of shoes, old purse or pleather corset into a METALLIC MARDI GRAS MASTERPIECE.
You don't need to be "artsy" or have any previous experience. This is a beginner workshop designed for any skill level. Once you learn the technique, you'll want to gild everything in sight! Jackets, boots, fascinators... Wherever your imagination leads you!
You'll leave with your newly dazzling shimmery costume element (finished or nearly there, depending on size and complexity), a custom repair kit, and all the skills you need to keep gilding anything you want at home with no fancy tools required.
Includes all materials (minus costume element), tools, customized take home repair kit, and shopping/materials list for future projects.
You must provide a "costume element" to gild- A pair of shoes, ankle high boots, small purse, leather jacket etc. ( Item MUST be faux leather, pleather, vinyl, rubber or real leather. No suede or canvas).

FAQ:
Q: What do you recommend for a "first time" project?
A: Keep it small(ish). You won't be able to finish a pair of thigh high boots or leather pants in the course of our three hour workshop. (Though you're certainly welcome to start them at the workshop and finish them at home!) I suggest using a pair of ankle high boots, clutch purse, or a portion of a corset as a beginner project.
Q: Can I use canvas sneakers or a suede shoe?
A: For the purpose of this class, we are going to learn on leather, pleather, vinyl or faux leather. A smooth surface works best for this process!!
However, I will teach you how to alter the gilding prep process so that you can experiment at home on canvas or other fabrics.
Q: Can I add accent shapes and use multiple colors in my design?
A: Absolutely! You'll learn how to transfer simple shapes and multiple colors onto your shoes, which opens up a WORLD of options for your future designs! Though I do recommend keeping your design fairly simple for your first pair.
